Semula aku gak terlalu peduli dengan apa yang disebut dengan Kasus Tibo. Tapi, seminggu terakhir mau tidak mau sedikit banyak mengikutinya. Apalagi pada hari Kamis kemarin, Koran Tempo memaparkan prosedur eksekusi yang harus dijalani oleh Fabianus Tibo, Dominggus da Silva, Marinus Riwu.

Aku kutipkan.

  • Hukuman mati dilakukan dengan cara tembak;
  • Tidak dilaksanakan di depan umum;
  • Kedua mata terpidana ditutup, kecuali bila terpidana tidak menghendakinya. Dan Tibo ingin eksekusi dilakukan tanpa tutup mata;
  • Eksekusi bisa dilakukan secara berdiri, duduk, atau berlutut dan jika perlu tangannya diikat;
  • Ketiga terpidana ditembak serentak;
  • Hanya satu dari semua senapan yang menggunakan peluru tajam dan hanya perwira pemimpin eksekusi yang mengetahui peluru itu ada di senapan mana;
  • Bila setelah eksekusi terpidana belum mati, bintara diperintah melepaskan tembakan pengakhir dengan menempelkan ujung laras senjata persis di atas telinganya.

Terus terang, prosedur terakhir ini yang membuatku ngeri membayangkan apa yang dialami oleh ketiga terpidana. Selama ini tidak terbayang kalau ternyata prosedurnya akan seperti itu. Aku kutipkan lagi, “diperintah melepaskan tembakan pengakhir dengan menempelkan ujung laras senjata persis di atas telinganya”.

Siapakah bintara itu ? Siapakah hakim yang memutuskan hukuman mati itu ? Siapakah Jaksa yang menuntut dijatuhkannya hukuman mati itu. Siapakah Presiden yang menolak upaya hukum terakhir [entah grasi atau peninjauan kembali] mereka ? Tuhankah ?. Wakil Tuhankah ?. Malaikat kah ?. Karena yang aku tau hanya Sang Pemberi Hiduplah yang berhak untuk meminta kembali apa yang diberikanNya.

Aku tidak sedang mencoba menggugat hukuman buat mereka. Karena itu jauh di luar wewenangku. Namun coba pejamkan mata dan konsentrasi sejenak untuk membayangkan kembali penggalan kalimat tadi.
